Bus RoadeoIt was great having Butte Silver Bow participating in the Roadeo this year. Butte did a wonderful job hosting the 2005 Statewide Bus Roadeo. The Civic Center was a terrific facility. Attendees were treated to some authentic Butte culinary fare. Drivers and judges handled the situation created when the American Public Transportation Association decided that it would make sense to hold the National Bus Roadeo in conjunction with their Bus Paratransit Conference in the spring. This required Montana to drive for two Roadeos in a single year in Division 1. To accommodate this there was no practice run for Division 1 drivers. The morning competition decided the driver that would represent Montana at the 2005 National Roadeo in Dallas. The afternoon competition determined the 2006 Roadeo participant. Division 2 proceeded at normal with practice runs in the morning and competition in the afternoon. Butte Silver Bow were terrific hosts to all who came, running shuttles from the hotel to the roadeo and BBQ site. Winning drivers were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals again this year. We were also fortunate to have a great bunch of judges who really did an outstanding job! A special thanks goes to Jason Hageness and Jerry Fleege, People Transportation Inc., who were gracious enough to host a hospitality suite Friday night. Again our vendor members were more than generous about sponsoring "events" - similar to hole sponsors at golf tournaments - which allowed us to leave the registration fee at $60.
